boating
Thanks to its very indented coastline with more than 300 islands, and many channels, bays and coves, the Zadar region is a paradise for all types of boating ventures.
diving
Diving has become one of the most attractive sports in the Adriatic. Its bottom offers many ancient wrecks, cliffs and caves, corals and a wealth of other animal and plant life. The Kornati archipelago excels in this regard.
free climbing
The Paklenica National Park is Croatia’s major climbing area with an international reputation. In addition to the well-known Anića Kuk (cliff, 400 m), there are more than twenty other climbing sites in Velika Paklenica.
rafting
Because of the nearness of the sea, the rafting season on the river Zrmanja starts already in March. The most attractive periods are late April and early May, when the canyon walls turn into flowery gardens, and the weather is regularly good and warm. Zrmanja (category 4-5) is one of the best rafting opportunities in this part of Europe.
sports fishing
Sports fishing in the Adriatic is an outstanding form of recreation and pleasure. Tunny and speargun fishing are the most attractive. Along with the required gear, you need a licence issued by the Croatian Association for Underwater Activities and Sport Fishing.
trekking and mountain-bike trails
The Paklenica canyon, Mount Velebit and the island of Ugljan have excellent and varied trails for mountain-biking and for discovering nature’s charms.
